A Spring Birthday

This past Friday afternoon I began a little project. It started with a piece of cardboard, some red paper, a silver pen, a bit of yarn, and a stapler. With a little help from Andrew it ended up being a conical shape that was destined for a certain furry, canine head... Can you guess where this little project was going WITHOUT looking at the picture first?

One of Sophie's biggest fans (okay, so probably her NUMBER ONE FAN) is Drea's mom, Rowena...with whom we celebrated her perpetually 49th Birthday on Saturday. Of course, as a courteous and appreciative dog idol Sophie had to be attired properly for such an affair as well as present a suitable birthday card for her most adoring fan. So we staged a photo shoot, complete with a wrinkly sheet (why iron when you have photoshop?) and a quickly tired doggie model.

At the end, we got a little creative with the "tired dog" looked and threw in a bottle of beer to complete the pooped-out partier image. I guess for Sophie sitting still is hard work!

Rowena was very appreciative of Sophie's efforts and we all enjoyed a fine time with friends and lots of FOOD typical Verdan-gathering style. We met a few of Drea's old ESL students and learned a few hilarious Korean drinking games albeit without obscene amounts of drinking-- just a ladylike sip of hazlenut liquor for me.
Me & Drea cheesing it up for the camera.

I love the pictures! Schatzi gets that tired look when I put her in down-stays for too long. Doc, unfortunately, can only stay for 2 seconds at this point, so he doesn't get a chance to develop the "too tired" look. :)

Thanks, we had lots of fun taking pictures too. Dogs are a great form of constant entertainment. =)
